
Jane Spence Adams, 89, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on July 4, 2026. Born April 13, 1937, in LaGrange, Georgia, Jane lived a life marked by steady devotion to others, quiet strength, and a kindness that left people feeling seen and cared for.
For more than 30 years, Jane served through Civil Service at Fort Benning. Her long tenure reflected a hard-working spirit and a deep sense of responsibility—work done faithfully, day after day, with the same compassion and care she offered in every part of her life.
Jane was a member of Northside Baptist Church and gave her time as a volunteer at the Food Closet of First Baptist Church of Columbus, offering help in a way that was practical, generous, and deeply kind-hearted. She also became the inspiration behind Janie’s Exercise Group, which met at the Peachtree Mall—an encouraging presence whose example drew others together and lifted them up.
Jane was married to Clark Adams, Sr. She is survived by her sons, Clark Adams and Craig Adams (Cissy); her goddaughter, Holly Swartz and her husband Josh; and her godson, Harrison Hall. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jewell Helms Spence and Charles H. “Jake” Spence; her husband, Clark Adams, Sr.; and her brother, Jake Spence; her sister, Renee Spence.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907, on July 9, 2026, at 10:00 am.
