Teresa Jane Rathel McGuire, 62, of Panama City Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on June 29, 2026. She was born on December 2, 1963, in Bainbridge, Georgia, to the late Rev. James Buck Rathel and Ruby Hutto Rathel. Jane was a devoted wife, stepmother, step grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Visitation will be Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Striffler- Hamby Mortuary in Columbus, Georgia. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 3 p.m. Rev. Chandler Holland and Rev. Josh Rathel will officiate.
Jane enjoyed a successful career as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). She formed Valley Anesthesia, an independent anesthesia group practice, which she later sold. After moving to Florida, she continued the career she loved with Anesthesia Associates in Panama City until her retirement. She was the co-
founder of In the Spirit of Massai, a safari adventure company specializing in safaris in Tanzania. She loved her country and proudly served as a Captain in the United States Army National Guard.
Known for her sharp wit, strong work ethic, and generous spirit, Jane touched the lives of many through her involvement in international outreaches. Jane will be remembered for her quiet strength, her love of travel with her husband, her love of family, and her unwavering faith. Her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on in all who knew her.
Jane is survived by her beloved husband of 26 years, Jackie McGuire; her stepchildren, Megan Eggena (Tim) of Hamilton, Georgia, and Richard McGuire (Adrianne) of Hamilton, Georgia; her grandchildren, Wright Eggena (Emma), Sutton Eggena, Jackson Hydrick, Caroline Hydrick, Chandler McGuire, Vail McGuire; four sisters, Chris Holland (Chandler), Dr. Ann Addison (Toby), Elaine Gowan (Steve), Judy Rathel; one brother, Gene Rathel (Debbie); sisters-in-law, Becky McGuire Fyke, Phyllis McGuire Martin; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who love her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. James and Ruby Rathel. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the organization of choice.
