Following the Funeral Mass will be a Committal Service at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
Janet was born April 7, 1959 in Barstow, California to her late parents, Candida Mary Russo Wills and James Herbert Wills. Her father was military, and the family traveled to many different places. She graduated from Balboa High School in the Panama Canal Zone. She ended up at Fort Benning where she met her husband of 42 years. Janet was the rock of her family. She was a kind and patient mother. She loved her Italian heritage and taught her children about family traditions and how to pass them down from one generation to the next. She loved her grandchildren who called her Nonna and had an infectious laugh and smile that lit up the room. She loved gardening just like her father, her pets and spending time with her family. Her love of animals was known to all. She was an animal whisperer. Abandoned animals always found their way to her, and she could never turn them away. Although she was humble and modest, she had a great inner strength and always put others ahead of herself.
Janet is survived by her husband, Roy Hammock; daughters, Janet Elaine Harmon (Mike) and Jennifer Eileen Stone (Christopher); sister, Kathy Wills; brother, James Wills; grandchildren, Rayne Harmon, Senter Stone and Magnus Stone; and niece, Holly Wills; other family members and many friends.
