Ms Jean C Jean Chumney Rankin

COLUMBUS, GEORGIA- Mrs. Jean Rankin, age 76, passed away on September 9, 2011. Funeral services will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus, GA on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Columbus. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM.

Mrs. Rankin was born on February 1, 1935 to the late Bryant Chumney and Mary Chumney Newman. She was a faithful member of the former Wesley Heights Baptist Church and Edgewood Baptist Church. Mrs. Rankin was very devoted to God and her church and was very active in the choir and her Sunday School class. She was a friend to all that knew her and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rankin was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin A. Rankin and her step-father, Edward Newman.

Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Terry Rankin of Phenix City, AL and Scott and Cindy Rankin of Columbus, GA; three grandchildren, Grace, Hope and Levi, a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and John Holland; a brother, James Chumney as well as several nieces and nephews.
