Jeanette was born on April 4, 1958, in Liliw, Laguna, Philippines, At the age of 12, Jeanette’s family immigrated to the United States and settled in Cleveland, Ohio. From an early age, she met life with steady determination and a willingness to do what needed to be done; at 16, she began working as a Certified Nurse Technician, setting a pattern of diligence and service that would define her working life.
Jeanette went on to devote herself to caring for others as a dedicated LPN at Muscogee Manor and Orchard View nursing homes in Columbus. In the daily, often quiet work of tending to people in need, her compassion and kind-hearted nature were evident; offered not for recognition, but because it was simply who she was. Her wholesome presence and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on those who knew her and those she served.
Outside of work, Jeanette found joy in classic movies, traveling when she could, and in her faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was happiest and most at peace when spending time with family and friends, where her warmth and gentle care could be felt in the simplest moments.
Jeanette is survived by her son, Joel Stephen Kim; her son’s father and ex-husband, Kyung Joon Kim; her sister, Jean Downes; her brothers, Joey Corcega and Jorge Corcega; her niece, Rachel Downes; her nephew, Tim Downes; her nephew, Christian Corcega; her nieces: Mercedes McKee and Mia Corcega; and her parents, Jose Corcega and Flordeliza Arevalo Corcega, who preceded her in death.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on September 15, 2026, at Parkhill Cemetery, Chapel of Pines Mausoleum, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907, US. Family and friends will visit briefly after the service.
