Jeannette Stanton Schorr, 82, a lifetime resident of Columbus, GA, passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Evangel Temple Assembly of God, Columbus, GA with Reverend Paul Thomas and Reverend Bud Rupel officiating. The family will have a private committal service at Parkhill Cemetery.
Jeannette was born December 26, 1938. She was a graduate of Columbus High School, Huntingdon College and Columbus College. Having taught 33 years as a beloved teacher, she impacted countless lives throughout the Muscogee County School District. She was a faithful Christian and loved serving the Lord and her church. Throughout her 40 years as an active member of Evangel Temple, she led by example always displaying an unselfish mindset combined with a generous and giving spirit. Her loving smile, purpose of heart and unswerving passion for others is deeply embedded in each of us.
Jeannette was a devoted wife, loving mother and proud grandmother. It is well known that her ten grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy and kept her busy year round with numerous sporting events. Nothing made her heart happier than being surrounded by family and friends. She became known for her chicken salad and many nights the kitchen light burned late as she cooked for others. Her greeting always began with “Hey Darlin” and her dinner blessings always ended with “Bless the Cook.” Her beautiful memory will forever be in our hearts.
Jeannette was proceeded in death by her husband, Jack Douglas Schorr; her parents, Charles Luther and Annie Louise Stanton; and her sister Lillie Ann Myers.
She is survived by children Doug (Ainslie) Schorr, Lou Ellen (Cristobal) Lopez, Spencer (Kim) Schorr, Brad (Lori) Schorr; grandchildren Stanton Schorr, Isabella Lopez, Virginia Schorr, Sydney Schorr, Alli Schorr, Jack Lopez, Ben Schorr, Elliott Lopez, Jackson Schorr, and Spencer Schorr, Jr.; her brother Luther (Beth) Stanton; niece Connie Schorr, Jennifer Clifton; nephews Lee Schorr, Jimmy Williams, Joseph (Wendy) Stanton; great niece Ann Lindsey Williams and numerous other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Evangel Temple Assembly of God Ladies Fellowship or Teen Challenge.
