He was a man of quiet strength, unwavering determination, and a heart that loved deeply even if he didn’t always say the words. He had a stubborn streak that made everyone smile, a sharp sense of humor, and a way of making those around him feel safe simply by being there

He found joy in life’s simple moments: old cars, the races, sitting on the porch drinking a beer, sharing ice cream, and spending time with the people he loved most. Whether he was laughing at a silly joke, showing off one of his stubborn dance moves, or enjoying a peaceful afternoon, he reminded us that the best memories are often the simplest ones.

He was more than just a father; He was a veteran, a brother, a grandfather, a best friend, a constant source of comfort, and the heart of the home.

He leaves behind a family who loved him beyond measure and who will forever cherish the simple moments.

His legacy will live on in every story shared, every race that is watched, every porch swing that gently sways in the breeze, and every scoop of ice cream that reminds us of him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, but never forgotten.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice Timmons and Rudolph Hedden and his siblings, Joe Hedden, Jimmie Hedden and Johnny Hedden. He is survived by his son, Ethan D. Hedden (Michelle Ballard); his siblings, Jackie Hedden (Dorotha), Jeffery Hedden (Kristen), James Hedden, Judy Whitehead (James), Jeannett Hedden-Allen and Janice Tharp (Mark); his grandchildren, Dylan Hedden (Katie), Skyler Hedden (Chelsa), Coleton Carden (Lexie) and Carlie Hedden and his great grandkids, Dawson, Kayden, Oakley, Kayden, Kalani, Ryhatt, Lyric, Laken and Everleigh.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Striffler Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 4:00 PM at Cedar Hill Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cedar Hill Baptist Church.
