Jewel Buckner Shine passed away peacefully at age 100 on Monday, November 21, 2011 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Born in Headland, Alabama, a resident of Columbus, Georgia for most of her life, she lived for the past 14 years in the home of her devoted daughter, Joyce, and loving son-in-law, John D. Jones, in Dunwoody, Georgia. Jewel is predeceased by her husband E.M. Shine, and her daughter Jorita Brittingham. She is survived by one daughter, 8 grandchildren, 12 great -grandchildren, 4 great- great -grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Jewel was strong, gracious, completely devoted to family, resolute in her belief in God, and loved by all.
The family will receive visitors from 11:30-12:30 pm at Striffler-Hamby Funeral Home, Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia on November 25, 2011. Internment services will be held graveside at Riverdale Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
