Jimmy Wayne Jarrett Sr., 83, passed away on March 10, 2026. Born November 19, 1942, in Wetumpka, Alabama, Jimmy was a hard-working, humorous, wise, faithful, and devoted man whose steady presence and kind heart touched many lives. He was a resident of Columbus, Georgia.
Jimmy worked as a salesman for Econo Carpet, bringing to his work the same diligence and straightforward integrity that defined his life. He was known as a great friend and a dedicated family member, generous in spirit and dependable in every season.
Jimmy was married to Charlene Jarrett for 65 years, a lifelong partnership marked by devotion and enduring love. He was a well loved father and grandfather, and his family was the center of his world.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene Jarrett; daughter, Elise Russell (Jeff); grandson, Jeffrey Russell; granddaughter, Jessica Silvis (Scott); grandson, Wayne Russell (Heather); great-granddaughter, Leighton Russell; great-grandson, Prescott Silvis; great-granddaughter, Sylvie Russell; sister, Joyce Letchworth; brother, Ted Jarrett; along with several nieces and nephews.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Wayne Jarrett Jr.; sister, Rita Martin; and brother, Bruce Jarrett.
A bass fisherman with a true love for the outdoors, Jimmy also loved working on cars and boats and could always find satisfaction in a job well done. He loved his dogs, and he loved baseball and football—especially the Atlanta Braves. A prankster at heart, he was witty and quick with a line; and when asked, “How are you feeling today?” he would answer, “With my hands.” Those who shared a laugh with Jimmy will carry that warmth forward.
Above all, Jimmy was faithful to God all his days as a dedicated Methodist, living with quiet conviction and steady gratitude. His life reflected a wisdom gained through years of work, family, friendship, and faith.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Rd. Columbus GA 31909, in Jimmy’s name.
