Graveside services for Mr. Wilson will be held at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens

Visitation for Mr. Wilson will be from 6-8 PM, on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary 4071 Macon Road Columbus.

Joe Rex Wilson was born March 1, 1921 in Elba, Alabama to the late Joe Ernest Wilson and Dessie M. Wilson. Mr. Wilson served his country in the United States Navy for five years and in the Army National Guard for thirty one years. He was a veteran of World War II, a thirty second degree Mason where he was a member of the Columbus Masonic Lodge # 7 since 1950, and a member of the Shriners from which Mr. Wilson transported many children to the Shriners Hospital. Mr. Wilson was retired from Sears and Roebuck after thirty plus years of service. He was an avid deer and turkey hunter, he enjoyed gardening and most of all spending time with his grandchildren riding four wheelers.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Sarah Wilson, his children, Joe Rex Wilson, Jr., Rita Wilson Tew, William Thomas Wilson, and Debbie Wilson Bass and her husband David, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Shriners Hospitals for Children Office of Development 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 in memory of Joe Rex Wilson.
