Joel, son of James and Donna Faircloth and Leon and Crystal Spencer, was born October 16, 1986 in Savannah, Georgia. He attended Hardaway High School with the class of 2005. Joel attended Epworth United Methodist Church. He was employed by Parkhill Cemetery and Striffler-Hamby Mortuary as a Family Service Counselor and also previously owned his own landscaping business.
Joel loved his Lord, his family, and his friends that he considered family. He never met a stranger, was loved by all who knew him, and would do anything for anybody. He played baseball and football and continued to enjoy all things outdoors. Joel grew up on the beaches of Tybee and continued to love being on or near the water. He was a Florida State fan since childhood and loved his loyal canine companion, Lucy. Joel was cherished by his family and adored by all and without him there will be a void in all the lives he touched.
Joel was a cherished son, constant brother, loving father, and loyal friend. His adventurous nature gave him opportunities to share his many talents with his family and friends. Joel’s charisma was the glue that solidified the fraternal love he shared with his brothers. His passion for being a father was evident by his unwavering, unconditional love for his daughter. His bear hugs and infectious smile were what those closest to him always expected but never took for granted. Joel was many things to a lot of people and to measure how much he is missed is to see how much he is loved.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hugh and Hazel Breland, Lawrence Spencer, and Virginia Faircloth.
Other than his parents, Joel is also survived by his daughter, Addison Spencer and her mother April; brothers, Lee Spencer (Becky), Shea Spencer (Jamie), Michael Faircloth (Erin), Caleb Faircloth, Zachary Calfee (Jessica), Benjamin Calfee (Michelle); sisters, Anna Willson (Wesley), Becca Hughes; grandparents, Shirley Spencer, Billy Dean Faircloth; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
