the second son of A.T. (Tom) and Adylise Phillips. John graduated from Columbus High
School in 1955 and Auburn University in 1961, where he was a member of Phi Delta
Theta fraternity. John became owner and President of Tom Phillips Floor Covering in
1980, he retired in 1998.
John was preceded by his parents and brothers, Harry and Tom. He is survived by his
wife, Betty; daughter Ann; niece Amy Manozzi; nephew Andy Phillips, and nephew
William Gibson.
Visitation will be held at Striffler-Hamby, Columbus Monday, May 12, 2014 from six to eight in the evening.
A graveside service will be held at Riverdale Cemetery Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. The
family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Columbus Hospice www.columbushospice.com, or
charity of choice.
