John D. "Butch" Saunders Jr.

Visitation will be from 6-8pm, on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Striffler-Hamby 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Friday, July 20, 2018 in the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby, interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery.

Mr. Saunders was born April 28, 1948 in Columbus, Georgia to the late John D. Saunders, Sr., and Margaret Evelyn Martin Saunders. Mr. Saunders served his country in the United States Marine Corp; he was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He had a love for music and enjoyed playing guitar. He was artistic and it showed in the beaded jewelry he created. Butch enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his sister, Marie Es. (Norman) Marwitz; nieces, Diane Hyde, Carolyn Hill, Kristin (Ronnie) Faulk and Tina Day; step-niece and nephew, Shannon Hemminger and Rusty Marwitz; great-nieces and nephews, Jeremy (Christina) Hill, Alex Hill, Jonathan Hill, Brad Faulk (Grace Allen), Aubrey Faulk, Zac (Hollie) Day, and Cory Chovan; two great-great nephews, Landon Faulk and Jude Embrey.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation in Memory of John D. “Butch” Saunders, Jr.
