

Johnnie was born January 6, 1951 in Phenix City, Alabama to the late Warren and Shirley Powell Owens. He was a Fluid Power Manager for Bearings and Drives in Columbus, GA for over 30 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a competitive archer, and enjoyed hunting and the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years Marol Taylor Owens, two daughters: Sonja Owens (Bruce Tucker) of Phenix City, AL, and Cassandra (Clint) Malcom of Marietta, GA, two grandchildren: Taylor Leigh Malcom and Jackson Luke Malcom, four brothers: Tex Owens, Teddy (Sharon) Owens both of Phenix City, AL, Gary (Connie) Owens of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Rodney Owens of Columbus, GA, two sisters: Lisa Owens of Phenix City, AL and Kay (Larry) Martin of Columbus, GA, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Owens, and a sister, Debra Lynn Owens.
Visitation will be from 5-7pm, on Thursday, September 22, 2016 in the St. Elmo Room of Striffler-Hamby 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Friday, September 23, 2016 in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA, with Reverend Mike Reeves and Dr. Don Wilhite officiating. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery.
Johnnie fought heart disease for over 25 years. His family would like to thank the doctors that cared for him and increased his quality of life during this long battle: Dr. Rajinder Chhokar, Dr. David B. Delurgio, Dr. Banks Carroll, and Dr. John P. Byers.
