Johnny attended college at Columbus Technical College, before serving as maintenance manager for the City of Columbus for 24 years. In that role, he was known for a dependable, hard-working spirit—showing care not only in the tasks before him, but in the people around him.
Johnny resided in Ellerslie, Georgia before his passing and was a dedicated Baptist. He found enjoyment and fellowship in the simple, meaningful rhythms of life: golf, motorcycle riding, bird hunting, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. He was also a devoted Alabama football fan (ROLL TIDE!), bringing loyal enthusiasm to every season.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Carolyn Harp; his mother, Doris Harp; his father, Albert Harp; his brother, William "Bubby" Harp; his sisters, Mary Efurd and Patsy McGregor; his nephew, Tony Grimes; and his grandson, Skylar Ginn.
Johnny is survived by his daughter, Megan Harp; his grandson, Noah Teel; his life partner, Sandy Motos; his beloved dog, Gizz; and other extended family.
The family of Johnny has requested that those in attendance help honor Johnny and his love for the game by dressing in Alabama colors or attire.
