Joseph (J.B.) Britt David, age 86, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020. J.B. was born July 16, 1934 in Daytona Beach, Florida to Evelyn McCrory David and Paul Owen David. A visitation for family and friends for J.B. will be held Saturday, December 5, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 1:55 PM at Wynnbrook Baptist Church, 500 River Knoll Way, Columbus, GA, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM.
J.B. graduated from Columbus High School and later from Northrop University. After graduation he became an instructor at Northrop. J.B. married Jean Duncan on July 29, 1992 at Wynnbrook Baptist Church. He was humble, generous and thoughtful, always willing to lend a hand and help someone in need. When he was an instructor at Northrop, he heard of a student that wasn’t able to afford tuition, so J.B. paid it for him. He enjoyed traveling, playing golf, woodworking, reading, flying, drawing, and napping. He believed that when you have the opportunity to touch someone’s life, do it. The children would look at him and think he was Santa; he loved that. What J.B. truly loved was his family and the time he spent with them. Playing with the grandkids was always the best!
J.B. was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn McCrory David; father, Paul Owen David; brother, Owen David; and sister, Dorothy Lathen.
J.B. is survived by his wife, Jean Duncan David; daughter, Debbie Alvarez; daughter, Susan Vargus; daughter, Lyn Horne; son, Scott David; daughter, Sharon Powell; daughter, Tracey Reed; daughter, Tricia Wit; and son ,Keith Duncan. Mr. David also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren to cherish his memory.
