
Joseph Armand Hotard D.D.S, age 79, resident of Columbus, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled on Sunday, May 24, 2015, 3:00pm in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, with Father O’Connell officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 23, 2015 from 5:00-7:00pm. A private burial and Dr. Hotard’s final resting place will be at Parkhill Cemetery.
Dr. Hotard, son of the late Joseph Leslie Hotard and Evelyn Louise Pacetty, was born December 31, 1935 in Columbus, Georgia. He was a Retired Endodontist and with a private practice in Atlanta. Dr. Hotard was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He was a very well educated man and had many accomplishments to celebrate in his lifetime. Dr. Hotard attended and graduated with a Bachelors of Science from Louisiana State University in 1958, he was the biggest LSU fan imaginable. He was also initiated into the Alpha Epsilon Delta National Premedical Honor Society during his schooling at LSU. After graduation, he attended University of Oklahoma and certified in Cytotechnology. Dr. Hotard enlisted and served honorably in the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant in 1969. Shortly after his service, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Emory University and was member in the Supreme Chapter at Delta Sigma Delta. Dr. Hotard served his residency in Endodontia at the Veterans Administration Hospital from 1971-1972 in Atlanta, Georgia, in which he then completed his Postgraduate Program in Endodontics from Emory University. Dr. Hotard was a very active member in both the American Dental Association as well as the American Association of Endodontists.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and oldest son, Joseph Martin Hotard. Dr. Hotard is survived by his wife, Susan Cummings Hotard; son, Christopher Bryan Hotard; granddaughter Jessica Bailey Hotard; step-son, Jonathan Kyle Cummings (Colleen); step-daughter, Susan Cummings Haycock (Carlton); step-grandchildren, John, Tyler, Madison, Story; brothers, T. Gabriel Hotard D.D.S. (Patricia), Neil Hotard (Karen), Laurence K. Hotard; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
