Joseph L. Powers, 87, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on January 9, 2024 at Piedmont Midtown Hospital. He was born October 12, 1936 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Mary L. Carroll Powers and Fenton M. Powers. Joe married the love of his life, Barbara Jean Simmons and together they called Columbus home. He was Christian by faith and attended Northside Baptist Church. Joe worked for many years with Bob’s Welding Supply. He loved and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Joe is survived by his loving wife Barbara J. Powers; his beloved daughter, Pam (Steve) Petrakovich; his adored grandchildren: Joshua and Ariel Petrakovich; his sister, Patsy Powell; his like a daughter, Wanda (James) Dutton; and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Mary and Fenton Powers and his son, Darrell Powers.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
