Joy Delle Shellnutt, 63, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on October 1, 2026. Born March 14, 1963, Joy will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who had the privilege to know her.
Throughout her life, Joy met each season with steady resilience and a loyal, kind-hearted spirit. She was cherished for the warmth she brought into a room—truly a “Joy” to be around—and for the selfless way she showed up for the people she loved. Always going above and beyond to help others in need.
Joy was hard-working and dedicated, and she spent many years at Total Systems in Columbus as a computer system software analyst. Her commitment to doing things well, and to doing them with care, was evident in the way she approached her work and her relationships alike.
Away from work, Joy’s adventurous nature shone through in the life she enjoyed—traveling, spending time with family and friends, and returning whenever she could to the peace and pleasure of the beach. She also delighted in simple freedoms and favorite routines, including cruising in her little red corvette.
Visitation for Family and Friends will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907, on October 6, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Fisher Chapel, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907, on October 7, 2026, at 2:00 pm with Pastor Ernestine W. Campbell officiating.
Joy will be laid to rest at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus.
She leaves her loving memory to be cherished by several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and extended family and friends.
Joy will be greatly missed by all who knew her and especially loved her.
