Joyce Marie Chitwood Corey, 79, of Midland, Georgia, died on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 1:00-2:00pm at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road. Burial will take place at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery with Reverend J.W. Norman officiating.
Mrs. Corey, daughter of the late James William Chitwood and Ione Marie Downs Chitwood, was born November 4, 1938 in Gadsden, Alabama. She was a resident of Columbus since 1992, graduated from the University of Montevallo and former Elementary School Teacher. She was a member of Berean Covenant Church in Midland, GA.
She is survived by her husband, Robert James Corey; sons, Robert Mark Corey of Kennesaw, GA, James Scott Corey (Amber) of Midland, GA, Paul Christian Corey (April) of Birmingham, AL; sister, Jan Boss of Birmingham, AL; seven grandchildren, Tyler White, Matthew Corey, Will Corey, Mason Corey, Peyton Corey, Cooper Corey, and Davis Corey.
