A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 12:30 PM at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, 553 AL Highway-165, Fort Mitchell, AL.
Mrs. Joyce Ann Goodman was born May 7, 1951 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Wilber Marshall and Mattie Pearl Bowman Ford. Joyce will patiently wait for her husband, George Goodman, to whom she was married to for 53 years, to someday join hands again in the presence of Jesus Christ forever.
Mrs. Goodman retired from the Muscogee County School system of Columbus, Georgia and was Co-Owner of "Entertainment with a Purpose," with her husband, ventriloquist, George Goodman and his partner Oscar. Joyce was a pillar employee, regardless of the many occupational pursuits, she was dedicated to being an honorable and dependable member of each occupation.
Joyce was a graduate from George Washington Carver High School in Columbus, Georgia and was a two time graduate from Columbus Technical College. In her early childhood, Joyce began serving God. She was a member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church. From the beginning to the end of her life, memories of her grandmother, Pearly Bell Thomas, who she recognized as "Mom", were always with her. Joyce always associated wonderful memories with her grandmother and her sister Geraldine Wright. Joyce thrived by the excitement of sharing and caring for 23 wonderful children, whom she called "her miracle gifts from God", during her precious lifetime with George.
As Joyce matured in the name of Jesus Christ, she joined hands with God as his holy servant and spent each day reaching to become a member of the "Truth of God's Church", where she knew holiness is right where God wanted her to be.
Of all her wonderful accomplishments, Joyce loved Jesus Christ unconditionally. She was a faithful, loving, trusting, and loyal wife to her husband George. "If God were to allow me to live my life again, I want the same wife, because creations such as Joyce can't be done twice, unless by God himself, parents can't create this kind of woman, only God." - George Goodman
Joyce is survived by her Husband, George Goodman, children, Lileta Goodman Perenyi, Joycettema’gie Francine Goodman (Greg), Tiffany Goodman, Alexus Goodman (Edwards), Ashley Goodman, Akeem Goodman, Robriah Mitchell, Robin Mitchell, and children who are her own and brought joy to her life, George Goodman King, Untilere Goodman King, Maya Thaxton, Lindsay Chalker (Chris), Jeanette Bowman, Imani Washington, Kizzy Tarver, Rashamin Tarver, Darien Dees, Kaleb Tarver, Kody Tarver, Koby Tarver, Swann Tarver, Saquain Tarver, Shirley Goodman Wright (Christopher), siblings, Geraldine Wright, Brenda Cooper, Harrison Ford, Ferry Bowman, Jeanette Bowman, longtime childhood friend, Francis Preer.
