Columbus, Georgia- Karen "Kay" Pittman Gordy, 76, of Columbus, Ga went to be with Jesus on September 7, 2014.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 11, 2014, 3 p.m., Edgewood Hall of Strifler-Hamby of Columbus at 4071 Macon Road with the family receiving friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. Private entombment will follow at Parkhill Cemetary.
Kay was born October 15, 1937 in Enterprise, Alabama but grew up in Gadsden, Alabama. Kay was the daughter of the late Judge Virgil Pittman and Floy Lasseter Pittman. She went to Auburn University and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She was a longtime member of Wynnbrook Baptist Church. She was an active member and past president of Green Island Garden Club, an accomplished painter in multiple mediums, and creator of beautiful calligraphy and poetry.
Kay loved God as her Lord and Savior, and her greatest joy was knowing that God loved her and would take care of her. Kay is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Allen Gordy, her three children, Allison Gordy, Karen (John) Dille and Bert (Caryl) Gordy, her brother, Lee Pittman and her five grandchildren, Shannon (Casey) Porter, Lauren Dille, Kristen Dille, Tre Gordy, and Baylor Gordy.
