Kennith Shelling, age 73, a resident of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018. Mr. Shelling’s Memorial Service will take place on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Striffler-Hamby in Columbus, Georgia at 11:00am with Dr. Kenneth Cyrus officiating.
Mr. Shelling was born on April 1, 1945 in Ellaville, Georgia. Mr. Shelling went on to join the United States Army where he served honorably for over twenty years before retiring in 1991. After retiring from the United States Army, he started working at the PX at Ft. Benning for several years, while also working for the Columbus Consolidated Government as a Correctional Officer. He retired from the Columbus Consolidated Government after thirteen years of dedicated service. Mr. Shelling served as a deacon of Quebec Baptist Church located in Ellaville, Georgia for several years. His hobbies were Motorcycling, watching sports, spending time with his family, bowling, and visiting casinos.
Mr. Shelling was predeceased by his parents, Hennie Boyd, Hennie Teresa Peoples “Mama Hennie” and Roy Minter. He is survived by his wife, Ursula Shelling and four children: Stefan Shelling, Bernard Minter, Keith Shelling, and Debbie Watkins. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, several brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and many special friends.
