Larry was born on July 3, 1943 in Ellaville, Georgia to the late Edgar Murray Adams and Mattie Mae Adams. He graduated from Baker High School in Columbus, Georgia as Class of 1961 before beginning his career in information technology, attended Columbus State University, and served as an Airman 1st Class veteran of the United States Air Force. He was married for 28 years to the love of his life, Lane Tolleson Adams.
As he was an entrepreneur, he built many successful businesses but he retired from Carmike Cinemas as Senior Vice President after 30 years in information technology.
Larry was a proud and dedicated member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Fortson, Georgia. Two incredibly important things to Larry were God and his family. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf, pickleball, and tennis, as well as watching Auburn football. He loved traveling, especially going on roadtrips and he visited 49 states, and he had fished in numerous places around the world—but any of the fish he caught couldn't beat the friendships he made while on Lake Harding. He loved his friends passionately, and appreciated the fellowship they shared.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Murray and Mattie Mae Adams.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Lane Adams; his son, Greg Adams (Vickie), daughter Anita Adams (Angie), stepdaughter Ashley Vannoy, stepson Jason Whitman (Ashley), sisters Barbara Brooks and Gwen Deavours, 5 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family of Larry Adams requests donations be made to either Piney Grove Baptist Church or Columbus Hospice. They would like to extend their thanks to Columbus Hospice for their compassionate care to Larry in his last few weeks. They would also like to thank their condo friends for their help and support through this difficult time.
A celebration of life service will be held at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Fortson, Georgia on Saturday, November 8, 2025. Family and friends will be welcomed for a visitation at 1:00 PM before the service honoring Larry's life at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Mickey Adams officiating.
