Larry Kent Miller, 88, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Striffler Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907 with a visitation one hour prior. A Committal Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
Larry was born in Gordon, Ohio, the son of Cleo and Vivian Miller. He received an associate’s degree from Olivet College before being drafted by the army in 1959. While stationed at Ft. Benning, he attended Central Baptist Church where he met Mary Bazemore, who married in 1962 and enjoyed 62 years of marriage. They enjoyed attending Central Baptist Church together and were members for many years.
He worked at SunTrust Bank his entire career and was a long-time member of the Columbus Exchange Club and particularly loved working the foot-long hot dog booth at the fair every year. He was a master gardener, an avid bass fisherman as well as a train aficionado.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Miller; his children, David Miller, Liz Miller, and Alice Wrate (John); his three granddaughters, Ella, Maddie, and Olivia Wrate; and his beloved dog Sandy. He is preceded in death by his brother, Dean Miller.
