Laura S. Gibson

Mrs. Laura S. Gibson, age 87, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2011. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Father Frank Patterson officiating. Entombment will follow in the Parkhill Cemetery Chapel of the Pines. A rosary will be said at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus, GA on Tuesday evening at 5:00 PM with visitation following until 7:00 PM.

Mrs. Gibson was born on August 5, 1923 in Central Falls, Rhode Island to the late Alexander Zakowski and Louise Kondroski. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Mrs. Gibson enjoyed traveling, cooking and gardening but most of all she loved spending time with all of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Foster Gibson.

Survivors include her two children, Robert Gibson of Ft. Wayne, IN and Susan Pallotta of Phenix City, AL; six grandchildren, Peter, Eric, Amy, Nancy, Matthew and Christina; as well as eight great-grandchildren.
