She was raised in Smiths Station and later moved to LaGrange, Georgia where she raised her children. Throughout her life, Laura was loved by many. She had an infectious laugh, played a mean hand of Rummy, and enjoyed singing badly to classic rock. She collected salt & pepper shakers and drank Mountain Dew like it was going out of style. Laura was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved and would always take care of others before herself. This served her well in her profession as an LPN, where she was a favored caretaker by her many patients over the years. In her retirement, Laura could often be found spending time with her kids, grandkids, and other family. She was a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Laura is preceded in death by her father, Charles Lloyd Wise, and beloved stepfather, Howard Don Murphy.
She is survived by her children, Rachael Upton (Catherine Gail) & Trinity Pike (Charity); granddaughters Korah & Kaydence Pike; siblings Chuck Wise, Annah St. John, & Mandi Richardson; her mother, Helen Murphy; and many aunts & uncles, nieces & nephews, & friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA. with Reverend Steve Evans officiating. The family has asked for casual attire for those attending the services.
In lieu of flowers, her wish was to have donations made to a college fund for her granddaughters Korah and Kaydence. Laura was quite obviously loved by many. Rachael, Trinity, and Laura's family appreciate the ongoing outpouring of love and support.
