Arrangements under the direction of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA. Laura Anne Talley was born on September 29, 1960 and died December 24, 2016 at her home in Stone Mountain, GA. She was the daughter of Robert Ellis Talley and Barbara Barton Talley, both deceased. She grew up in Columbus, GA and was a 1978 graduate of Hardaway High School. It was there that she began her love of theatre under the inspired direction of Wendell Barnes. She enjoyed participating in several productions at the Springer Opera House, Columbus State University and several community theatres in Atlanta. She attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, but returned to Atlanta and to her good friends there. During the last decade of her life, her dear friends and Trivia team lifted her spirits when they were low. As her health declined, her friends and her team were a constant source of joy and hope. On that team, Laura’s specialty was cinema and theatre, though she was brilliant in just about every category. Laura is survived by her devoted roommate, Ken Gallups, her dear friend Brian Barnett, and by her family: David P. Talley, Robert H. (Holly) Talley, Meg Burkhardt, Amy L.Talley, Damon (Julia) Talley, Linn (Bill) Storey and by nieces and nephews Leslie A. Talley, Savannah G. Talley, Steven D. Talley, Paul M. Burkhardt, and Ellis J. Talley.
The family will welcome guests for a Celebrations of Laura’s Life Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 11:00 am in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon RD. Columbus, GA. A reception will follow at 12:30 pm at Waldrop Memorial Baptist Church, 2308 Hilton Ave. Columbus, GA. 31906.
