Laverne Jewell Muncey, age 77, resident of Hamilton, GA., died on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Monday, June 6, 2011, 3 p.m. with Reverend Russell Horne officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, June 5, 2011 from 4-6 p.m. Mrs. Muncey, daughter of the late William Hobbs and Jewell Harris Hobbs, was born March 23, 1934 in Ideal, GA. She was a homemaker and member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church, Columbus. Mrs. Muncey was preceded in death by a son, William Muncey. She is survived by her husband, Francis Muncey of Hamilton, GA; four sons, Glenn Grantham of New Orleans, LA, Kenneth Grantham and his wife Cheryl of Smiths Station, AL, David Muncey of Hamilton, GA, and Raymond Muncey and his wife Tammy of Grand Bay, AL; one brother, William Hobbs and his wife Martha of Columbus; six grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
