Mike’s life was marked by steady devotion—most especially to those he loved. Beloved by his family and all who knew him, he carried himself with quiet purpose and a deep regard for faith, learning, and home.
Mike pursued theological education with diligence and conviction. He earned a Master of Arts in Theology and attended Assemblies of God Theological Seminary and Southeastern Bible College, graduating in 1975.
In his professional life, Mike worked as a senior data science analyst for Aflac, bringing thoughtful skill and careful attention to his work.
Mike also served for 23 years as a licensed minister and attended Evangel Church for many years, a commitment that reflected a lifelong dedication to spiritual service and community.
At the heart of Mike’s days was his family—especially time spent with his grandchildren, which he treasured. He loved his dogs and found enjoyment in sci-fi and historical movies, games, bagpipe music, and southern gospel music. Known as a gift giver, Mike took genuine joy in giving to his family.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Annie and Lawson B. Booth Jr., and his sisters, Lawetta Simmons, Darlene Booth, and Jan Muddiman.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Shirley Booth; his children, Leighanne Booth Young, Lawson B. Booth IV (Tabatha), and Donald Ray Booth (Lindsay); and his cherished grandchildren, Mayson Booth, Lawson B. Booth V, Anna Booth, Landry Young, and Elias Booth.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at 1:00pm on Friday May 1, 2026 at Evangel Church, 5350 Veterans Pkwy, Columbus, GA 31904, with A funeral Service to follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will take place at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907, following the services at the church.
