Leon Addis “L.A.”Binns Jr., age 95, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Sunday March 18, 2018 at Columbus Hospice. L. A. was born April 17, 1922 in Columbus, Georgia to Annie Richardson Binns and Leon Addis Binns, Sr. After graduating from Jordan Vocational High School in 1939, L.A. joined the Army Air Corp, and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands and Iwo Jima while serving in WWII. In April, 2010, he traveled to Washington, DC with other WWII Veterans as part of the West Georgia Honor Flight to tour the World War II memorial. L.A. owned and operated Binns Cleaners for over 50 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church for 60 years, a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Along with his parents, L.A. was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betsy King Binns. He is survived by: daughters Olivia Harris Binns of Columbus, GA, Lu Ann Binns Brandon of Columbus, GA; son-in-law Bill Brandon of Columbus; and granddaughter, Katherine Brandon (Hudson) Swafford of St Simon’s Island, GA; other family members, and many friends.

A graveside service for L.A. will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 2:00 PM in Riverdale Cemetery, 1000 Victory Dr., Columbus, GA 31901, with Reverend Robert Beckum officiating
