Leon H. Meadows

Leon H. Meadows, age 97, resident of Columbus, died on Friday, September 3, 2010 at Vista Care Hospice of Franciscan Woods, Columbus. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Monday, September 6, 2010, 11 a.m. with Reverend John Meadows and Reverend Tim Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, September 5, 2010 from 2-4 p.m. Mr. Meadows, son of the late Silas M. Meadows and Alabama Ketchum Meadows, was born November 2, 1912. He was retired from Swift Mills where he served faithfully for 38 years. Mr. Meadows was a member of the Britt David Baptist Church and 50 years member of Rose Hill Masonic Lodge, # 464. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed gardening. Mr. Meadows was preceded in death by his wife, Louisa Cherry Meadows and also a sister, Lucille Hall. He is survived by one daughter, Shirley Arnold Fuller of Monticello, GA; two granddaughters, Pam Arnold of Columbus and Nancy Arnold Wood and her husband John W. Wood of Monticello, GA; one grandson, James C. Arnold, Jr and his wife Debbie Arnold of Waycross, GA; four great-grandchildren, Delaney Wood, John C. Wood, Christillie Wood, and Caitlyn Arnold; other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Vista Care Hospice, 100 Brookstone Centre Parkway, Columbus, GA 31904 or Britt David Baptist Church, 2801 W.
