Lilia Brookins, age 81, of Columbus, GA passed on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2018 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby, with Ian Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Brookins was born February 14, 1937 in Panama City, Panama. She worked and retired from Meals on Wheels, where she served twenty years and left as the director. She was married to the late Edward Brookins for fifty cherished years. She loved being a wife and mother but most of all a grandmother, some of her interest were computer games, dancing and gardening. She had quite the green thumb, at her home at every turn you would see some type of plant or flower vibrant and thriving from the care and love she put into them.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Survivors include four children, Patricia Bryan (Gary), Sue Ann Brookins (Greg Edwards), Edward Brookins Jr. (Sue), and Myriam Dansby (Johnny); seven grandchildren, Jodie Hall, Tina Vest (Joe), Zachary Edwards, Ian Edwards (Dakota), Cody Bryan, Edward Brookins “Boo”, and Dylan Brookins; seven great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
