Lilla “Joyce” Williams, 89, of Columbus, GA passed away Monday, March 5, 2018 surrounded by her family under the care of the staff of Orchard View Skilled Nursing Center and Columbus Hospice. She was born January 15, 1929 in Columbus, GA to her late parents, Henry Roosevelt Green and Sallie B Lane Green. Joyce retired, after a long career, from Columbus Recreation Department where she worked first with youth throughout the city, and finally as Director of the South Columbus Senior Citizen Center. She traveled extensively with her Senior Group and she also loved to travel with her late husband in their RV. They enjoyed Ball Room dancing and she was a wonderful cook. Joyce was a member of Beallwood Baptist Church and had opportunity to go on several mission trips. She leaves a legacy of loyalty and love for her family and always enjoying life to the fullest. Joyce will be missed by all who knew her.
A visitation for Joyce will be held Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907. A Celebration of Joyce's life starts at 12:00 PM, followed by a Committal Service at Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Billy Duncan officiating.
Along with her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by: her husband Herman Williams; son Henry David Williams and son James Dennis Williams; brother James Rudolph Green. She is survived by; daughter Carol Dianne Neville; and son-in-law Denny Neville; sister Barbara Stinson and brother-in-law Bruce Stinson; granddaughter Lori Neville, grandsons Jeremy (Mandi) Neville, and Drew (Emily) Williams, great grandchildren, Jade Williams, Tanner Neville, Tucker Neville and Chandler Neville, nieces, nephews, other family members, and many friends.
