Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Clara Dewhart; her father, Joseph Sims; and her step-father, Gaston Thomas.
She is survived by her siblings, Willie Dewhart, Betty Ann Turner, Brenda Hicks, Billy Joe Dewhart, and Gaston Thomas Jr.; and by her children, Roger Dewhart, Darnell Dewhart, and Clara Dewhart. She is also survived by four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
For 17 years, Linda was a faithful member of Blessed Assurance Baptist Church, where her steady presence reflected a life rooted in devotion. She also gave 20 years of dedicated work in housekeeping, dedicated to serving with reliability and care.
Linda found joy in simple, meaningful pleasures: time at the beach, anything that involved music, and the comfort of baking and cooking—gifts she shared in ways that made others feel cherished.
Those who knew Linda remember a woman who carried herself with quiet grace—soft-spoken, yet unafraid to speak plainly when it mattered. With a kind heart and a deeply family-centered spirit, she made room for others, offering a listening ear to anyone who needed to talk and creating a sense of belonging that extended beyond her own home. Her legacy remains as a friend to the world, and as a mother even to those who were not her children.
