Linda Blankenship Shierling, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend went home peacefully to be with the Lord on July 24, 2025, while being held in the loving, arms of her daughter, Cherryl Murray.
Linda was born May 10, 1948 in Richlands, Virginia to Charlotte and Kermit Blankenship. She lived with her grandparents, Bertha and Alvin Brown for the first part of her childhood and loved them with all her heart calling them Mom and Daddy her entire life.
She met the love of her life, Jim Neal Shierling, while she was in the Azores with her parents. They were married for 51 years until his passing in 2018. Their love was so great that it was appropriate that she joined him in Heaven on his birthday.
For most of her life she was a homemaker, raising her daughters with love and devotion. Later she worked as a church secretary at Fairview Baptist Church. She left this job to be "Nanny" when her oldest grandchildren were born. She considered it a wonderful blessing that she was able to care for them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Laura Shrader, her brother Harold Lee Blankenship and her loving husband Neal Shierling.
Linda is survived by her daughters and son in-laws, Michelle and Jason Barnes, and Cherryl and Donald Murray, five grandchildren Taylor, Bryce, Tori, Lance and Macy and five great grandchildren, Audrey, Oliver, Joey, Kelsey and Graham.
Linda loved her family with all her heart. She was a wonderful, loving Mom and Nanny and will be missed by all those her loved her.
