She left behind a grieving only child Susan (Albert) Elgar and a loving sister Margaret Jackson McCracken of Newton, AL.
Her husband of 67 years, Wilbur Colley Baggett, preceded her in death on February 21, 2015. Their love is now eternal as he worshipped her until he passed into heaven to wait for her.
Lois loved working as a dental assistant at the Columbus Health Department and the Medical Center Charity Dental Clinic from 1972 until 1987. She organized and directed a volunteer group of 53 local dentists over the years to assist in her efforts to provide free dental care for underprivileged women and children during those years.
She was always the one who organized and provided beautiful decorations at her work place for every holiday and other special occasions. Mrs. Baggett excelled in arts and craft activities and was a cat lover all her life. She also was an avid “couponer” for more than 25 years and shared her “bounty” with all her friends. She loved to surprise others with bags of her shopping rewards which were always needed household goods.
Mrs. Baggett was blessed with enjoying the role of a military wife during Maj. Baggett’s 26 year career as an Army Pilot. She loved decorating and was a perfectionist in everything she did. She lifted everyone up with her giving spirit.
Mrs. Baggett had a generous heart and a deep faith in our Lord and Savior. She rests securely with God and her husband waiting in eternal peace and love.
Her daughter would like to express her sincere and upmost gratitude to mother’s devoted caregivers, Donna Ward and Amanda James who showered her with love and attention during her last six months living with accelerating Alzheimer’s disease.
Also, tremendous thanks to the dedicated nursing staff with Kindred Hospice who all so gently treated mother’s physical needs and my emotional care.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, 2:00pm, in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, Georgia, with Reverend Michael Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning, burial to follow at Parkhill Cemetery.
Flowers are appreciated or contributions can be made in her name to PAWS, 4900 Milgen Rd. Columbus, GA 31907.
