Hester, age 91, resident of
Columbus, died Thursday,
February 6, 2014. Funeral
services are scheduled at
St. Luke United Methodist
Church, Columbus on
Saturday, February 8, 2014,
3:00 p.m. with Reverend
Robert Beckhum and Helen
Berenthien officiating. The
family will receive friends at
the church one hour prior
to the service in Stockwell
Hall. Interment at Parkhill
Cemetery.
Mrs. Hester, daughter of
the late Angus Psalmond
and Abbie Pearl Cox Phelts,
was born May 21, 1922
in Columbus. She was a
long time member of St.
Luke United Methodist
Church where she served as
administrative assistant for
over 23 years. Mrs. Hester
was also a member of the
Jesus is Lord Sunday School
Class, United Methodist
Women and the Oglethorpe
Chapter of DAR. She was
preceded in death by her
loving husband of 42 years,
William Montague Hester;
brother, Angus Psalmond
Phelts Jr.; and sister-in-law,
Patricia Brooks Phelts. Mrs.
Hester is survived by her
three daughters, Patricia
Hester Callaway (Hugh) of
Cleveland, TN., Peggy Hester
Ledford (Bobby), Jane
Hester Cummings (Jimmy);
seven grandchildren, Bryan
Montague Callaway (Heather
Anne) of Neptune Beach,
Fl., Howard Montgomery
Callaway of Cleveland, TN.,
Allison Hester Wickham
(Bill), Victoria Ford Berman
Liesendahl (Chris), Abbie
Cummings Stallcup (Scott)
of Pooler, Ga., Sara
Cummings Carver (Casey),
and Katie Cummings; nine
great grandchildren; other
relatives and friends.
The family would like to

and Columbus Hospice.
