Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will follow in Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA with full military honors. The family will receive friends Monday evening, May 31, 2010 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
MSG (Ret.) Aviles was born March 10, 1925 in San Juan Puerto Rico. He was a dedicated soldier, serving two tours in Vietnam, and one in Korea. MSG (Ret.) Aviles retired after 30 years of service, after that he worked for Civil Service, and Wal-Mart. He will be remembered for always being happy, and making everybody around him happy.
Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Gladys Aviles; his children, Debbie Harger and her husband, Christopher, Randy Bingham, Eva Gould, Shirley Sherer, and Donna Benson; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
