Margaret “Peggy” Louise Hester Ledford, age 76, resident of Columbus, GA, died Saturday, December 3, 2022. Funeral services are scheduled at St. Luke United Methodist Church, Columbus on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Thad Haygood officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary.
Mrs. Ledford, daughter of the late William Montague Hester and Mable Louise Phelts Hester was born July 12, 1946. She was a longtime member of St. Luke United Methodist Church where she was a member of The NOW Sunday School Class. A true servant of God, she graciously shared her knowledge with The NOW Sunday School Class as one of the excellent adult Sunday School teachers. Mrs. Ledford was a member of the Women of the Word Bible Study at St. Luke and Precepts at Wynnton United Methodist Church. She was a charter member and past president of the Lemon Tree Garden Club as well as a member of the Green Island Garden Club and the George Walton Chapter of DAR. Mrs. Ledford proudly served as an educator for over thirty years at Brookstone School, Muscogee County School District, and Gwinnett County School District.
Mrs. Ledford is survived by her sister, Patricia Callaway; her children: Allison Wickham (Bill), Victoria Berman Liesendahl (Chris), Chris Ledford (Theresa), and Susan Lewis (Steve); grandchildren, Margaret Wickham, William Wickham, Audrey Berman, Ryan Ledford (Michelle), Mitch Ledford, Carter Lewis, Brandon Lewis; her brother-in-law, James Cummings; and other relatives, friends, neighbors, and her sweet Sugar. She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Ledford; sister, Jane Cummings; granddaughter, Meghan Ledford, and brother-in-law, Hugh Callaway.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Luke United Methodist Church or favorite charity.
