Margaret Wade Conway Whittier

Margaret Wade Conway Whittier, age 86, passed away on December 24, 2011. Funeral services will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Maurice Witt officiating. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 PM.

Ms. Whittier was born on August 15, 1925 in Lee County, AL to the late John and Nellie Wade. She was a member of Columbus First Seventh Day Adventist Church and was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was preceded in death by two sons, James Lamar Conway and Jack Conway, a daughter, Brenda Faye Conway, a brother, Richard Wade, a sister, Doris Engrisch and a cousin Louise Morrison.

Survivors include her four daughters, Ann Drucker of Columbus, Sue Hahn (Ken) of Washington State, Rita Schaetzer (Ken) of Phenix City, AL and Bonnie Conway of Columbus; a son, Jerry Conway of New York; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
