Margo accomplished much in her short life, surviving childhood cancer at the age of five. Even though the cancer treatments had lasting impacts on her health and well-being, her unwavering strength and determination was an inspiration to all her knew her. Even at a young age, she would go out of her way to show kindness and compassion for anyone, especially those with a disability or terminal illness.
After graduating from Jordan Vocational High School in 2011, she went on to establish a fulfilling career in Accounting and Tax Preparation at Master Tax Solutions, where she worked for over 12 years. Known for her dependable work ethic, patience and hardworking spirit, she always went above and beyond in everything she did. Margo was an avid animal rescue advocate. She loved all animals and would adopt them all if she could. She had several fur-babies and loved them all with her whole heart. Along with her fur-babies, she also adored her nephew and God-Daughters, who affectionately call her “Go-Go”.
Margo is survived by her husband Devon D’shone, son, Chassen Smith, God-Children, Kaylee and Kylie McKinnon, her parents Ellen Oakes Kokoles and Jerry and Sheila Oakes, sister, Chelsey Oakes (Mark), brother, Jonathan Shriver (Jessica), nephew, Stephen Shriver and many aunts, uncles and cousins along with friends whom she loved like family.
All of whom will cherish her memory forever.
A private Celebration of Life will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her honor to one of her favorite charities, Animal Ark Rescue in Columbus, Georgia or The Ferret Firm in Mobile, Alabama, both near and dear to her heart.
