

Mrs. Margot Ingeborg Casciaro, June 25, 1931 – January 12, 2015 Ilvesheim, Germany – Mrs. Margot Casciaro, 83, of Columbus, GA, died at Gentiva Hospice, January 12, 2015 after an extended illness and is now in her Father's care and joyfully reunited with her husband of 50 years, SFC(Ret) Thomas Casciaro Jr. Mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Friday, January 16, 2015 in St. Anne Catholic Church with Father Jeremiah McCarthy officiating. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery on Macon Road. A Rosary will be said Thursday evening, January 15, 2015 at 6 P.M. at Striffler-Hamby, Columbus with visitation to follow until 8 P.M. Mrs. Casciaro is the daughter of the late Ludwig and Lina Kohler of Ilvesheim, Germany. She survived Allied bombings, displacement, and invasion during World War II Germany and later met and married her beloved of 50 years, Thomas Casciaro Jr, a young soldier stationed in post-war Mannheim, Germany in 1955. She raised four boys in Columbus and later, was instrumental in the upbringing of 12 wonderful grandchildren. Mrs. Casciaro was an active member of St. Anne Catholic Church. Other community activities included serving honorably with her husband in the Civil Air Patrol. Margot (Margie) Casciaro will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother (Oma), great-grandmother, and dedicated friend to all she met.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother, Karlheinz Kohler, and a grandson, Zachary T. Casciaro.
Survivors include her four sons; Ralph R. Casciaro and his wife, Patricia of Columbus GA, Eugene A. Casciaro of Midland GA, LTC (Ret) Thomas L. Casciaro and his wife, Beth of Burke VA, LTC (Ret) Michael A. Casciaro and his wife, Elizabeth of Stuttgart Germany, Daughter in Law Bobbie Wilkerson of Ellerslie, GA.; a sister, Helga Hauser of Mannheim Germany; eleven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren;
numerous nieces; nephews and relatives in Germany; and many special friends.
