

Marie Elise Cutler, 84, of Columbus, Georgia passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 4, 1940, to the late Angeline Antoinette DePoez St. Arnaud and Joseph Emile St. Arnaud in the Province of Brabant, Belgium. Marie met the love of her life and future husband, William “Bill” Cutler one Saturday evening at a dance when she asks him for a Coca-Cola. This was the beginning of a lifetime of love and adventure. Marie and Bill married April 9th, 1957. Marie became a military wife and mother of three children. She was very supportive of Bill’s military career; they wrote a song called “Military Wife” the song can be found on YouTube that was dedicated to her. Together Marie and Bill called Columbus, Georgia home. Marie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She loved her family dearly.
Marie was very devoted to the care of her family and home. She loved to work in her yard tending to the plants and it showed because the beautiful yard she kept was the talk of the neighborhood. Marie loved to go thrift shopping with her daughter, Patty. She enjoyed going to the local Goodwill, Salvation Army, Joey’s, and Angel’s thrift stores. She had a vast collection of German hummels, dolls, and porcelain masks, to name a few of the collections that adorn her home. She was also a fighter, battling her illness since December, Marie fought a good fight till the end, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and especially loved her.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Angeline and Joseph St. Arnaud and her brother Pete St. Arnaud. She leaves her loving memory to be cherished by her loving husband, Bill Cutler; her daughters: Christine Echols (Jeff) and Patty Tidwell (Mark); her son, Billy Cutler (Sharon); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother Johnny St. Arnaud (Karen) of Vermont; and her cousin who was like a brother to her, Bubba Cutler.
A graveside service to celebrate Marie’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161, Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907. Marie’s family will visit with friends after the service at the graveside.
