Marjorie White Hancock

Marjorie taught at Britt David Elementary, earning Bachelors and Masters degrees in mid-life, and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.  She and her first husband Clayton White were charter members of Sherwood Methodist where she was active in UMW, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Board.  She loved gardening, RV camping with friends, shelling in Florida, group travel abroad, and volunteering as a Pink Lady at the St. Francis Hospital florist shop.

Marjorie moved to Baton Rouge, LA in 2006 and to Florida in 2011 with her loving daughter Susan and son-in-law David Cheshire of Holmes Beach.

Marjorie is pre-deceased by her husband(s) O. Clayton White and H. Bernard Hancock and son Hugh C. White. Family includes four loved grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren (Lisa, Robert and Sophie Persons; Jessica, Jackson and Sonia Senn; Clay Cheshire; Alan, Ian, Connor and Anna Cheshire), Hugh’s wife Ann Shepard White, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus, GA with interment to follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will greet friends beginning at 12:00 PM, until service time.

Marjorie was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Donations in her memory may be made to Living Grace Methodist in Columbus.
