Marjorie J. Locklar, 85, of Columbus, GA passed Friday, November 16, 2018 at Columbus Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. CST Monday, November 19, 2018 at Ramah Primitive Baptist Church, Josie, AL, with Pastor Steven King officiating. Burial to follow at Ramah Cemetery, the family will receive friends on Sunday November 18, 2018 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Striffler-Hamby of Columbus GA. Pallbearers for the service will be Blake Locklar, David Brooks, Trey Thornton, Ryan Tillery, Chad Booth, Chance Wagner, Nick Morbidelli and Eric Cummings
Mrs. Locklar was born March 7, 1933 in Pike County, AL, the daughter of the late Foster and Stella Jordan. She attended Pike County High School. After school she would go on to marry the late Mr. Virgil “Red” Locklar on October 15, 1949, they were able to spend forty seven loving years together and had six wonderful children. Marjorie would start her career at Fieldcrest Mill and spent forty two years working and retired as a supervisor. Other than work she also really enjoyed volunteering, visiting nursing homes and the homebound. Marjorie volunteered at the Miles Center and the Columbus Baptist Association. Mrs. Locklar loved the Lord and was a devout reader of the bible, she had read it cover to cover many times throughout her life. Some of her other hobbies were sewing and crochet, she would mend and sew any item you brought her, that was just the kind of lady she was to her family and friends. She always looked out for others before herself. She also loved the outdoors, gardening, and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, Fernie Ray Jordan; one son, Randall Neal Locklar and recently her faithful companion of twenty year Dimples her loving dog. Survivors include her children, Regina Brooks (Paul), Janet Thornton (Charlie), Vicki Richards (Terry), Phyllis Wagner (Greg), and Joseph Locklar (Wendy); four brothers, John Jordan, Alonza Jordan, Tim Jordan, Mickey Jordan; one sister, Mildred Otting; ten grandchildren, Sherri Cummings (Eric), David Brooks (Amber), Trey Thornton (Haley), Janie Tillery (Ryan), Allison Booth (Chad), Jordan Wagner (Brandon), Chance Wagner, Blake Locklar (Morgan), Brooke Strickland (Reece), Emily Morbidelli (Nick) and twelve greatgrandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made to Columbus Hospice in her memory, located at 7020 Moon Rd. Columbus, GA 31909. Arrangements are being entrusted to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus, GA 31907.
