Martha Louise Burgess

October 17, 1918- December 22, 2014

Martha Louise Burgess, age 96, passed away peacefully before noon on Monday, December 22, 2014. She was born on October 17, 1918 in Unionpoint, GA. Mrs. Burgess is preceded in death by her parents, Sue Mae and Robert E. Brake; step mother, Alice Brake; brother, Roger Brake; and grandson, James David Hendrix. She is survived by her son, Robert T. Hendrix (Alice Jo); daughter, Millie Taft (Walter); four grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several step grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was a charter member of Striplin Terrace United Methodist Church, Columbus, GA., a member of the Wesleyan Woman’s Group and the fellowship Sunday School Class.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Striplin Terrace United Methodist Church, 4170 Striplin Terrace Drive, Columbus, GA. 31909.

Funeral services will be held in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus, on Friday, December 26, 2014 at 11:00am. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30am Friday morning. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery.
