A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM in the Wildwood Room of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, Georgia. After the visitation, family and friends will go in procession into Parkhill Cemetery for a graveside service at 3:00 PM with Reverend Mike Reeves officiating.
Martha was born in Columbus, Georgia on August 30, 1931 to the late Emma Martha Farris Bohlinger Bray and William Allen Bray. She was Christian by faith and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Martha was married to the late Gates L. “Bill” Wood. She worked for many years as J.A. Snipes bookkeeper at the Goo-Goo Car Wash. Martha continued to work for Mr. Snipes after his retirement. She was musically talented, playing the violin for many years. Martha enjoyed spending time with family and friends, solving crossword puzzles, and walking in Peachtree Mall. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and especially loved her.
She leaves her loving memory to be cherished by her goddaughter and best friend, Dana Lark Frazier; her niece Karen Swenson of Dallas, TX; her nephew Lee (Mary) Swenson of Connecticut; her niece-in-law Judy Swenson; and many dear friends. Martha was preceded in death by her husband Bill Wood; her parents Emma and William Bray; her sister, Nancy Swenson; and her nephew Eric Swenson.
