Marvella P. Battle

Marvella P. Battle, age 93, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020. Marvella was born October 17, 1927 to Pearl Knowles Powell and Dalton Powell. Marvella was a member of Stiplin Terrace United Methodist Church and worked for 15 years as a Librarian’s Assistant at Blanchard Elementary School, after her 15 years of service she retired.

Marvella married Billy Joe Battle, they were married for 74 wonderful years.

Marvella is survived by her husband of 74 years, Billy Joe Battle; son Tommy Joe Battle; and daughter Pamela Thomas (Robert); grandson Chris Childress (Meghan) and great-grandson Jameson Childress.

Marvella was preceded in death by: her parents, Dalton Powell and Pearl Knowles Powell; three sisters, Florence McDaniel, Alice Yawn, Ruth Martin; four brothers, Maurice Powell, Ray Powell, Homer Powell, Hubbard Powell.
