Marvin Hunter Foster, age 78, of Columbus, Georgia passed away peacefully on Friday, November 29, 2024 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Marvin was born on July 5, 1946 in Columbus, GA to the late Raymond and Edna Foster. He was a graduate of Jordan Vocational High School (1964) and the University of Georgia (1968).
Marvin was a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and retired from State Farm Insurance Company after 30 years. He was a faithful member of St. Luke Church and served as an usher and volunteer with First Saturday Ministry. He also served on boards in the community including American Red Cross, Goodwill, and Hardaway Band Boosters. He was a proud member of the downtown Columbus Rotary Club.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wynelle Turner Foster; his daughter and two sons, Beth Foster Brown (Seth), Mark Foster (Jenni), Todd Foster (Joda); his nine grandchildren, Sara Ashleigh Foster Smith (Garrett), Blake Foster, Olivia Foster, Caroline Foster, Ford Foster, Davis Foster, Ellie Foster, Mary-Paige Brown, and Wesley Brown; and his brother, Scott Foster (Linda).
The family offers special thanks to his team of dedicated caregivers Kenya Davis-Brinson, Betty Short, Yolanda Rucker and Simone Jolley.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Edgewood Hall, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907 on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 11am. Family will visit with friends an hour prior. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Luke Respite Ministry, P.O. Box 867 Columbus, GA 31902 or to another local charity.
